QatarEnergy is set to significantly increase its local and international LNG production capacity to 160 million tonnes per year in the coming years, as announced by HE Saad bin Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President & CEO of QatarEnergy. This major expansion solidifies Qatar’s position as a global leader in LNG production and enhances its role in the international energy sector.

The announcement was made at the ‘My Legacy’ recognition ceremony, where QatarEnergy honored employees with 30 to 45 years of service, recognizing their contributions to the company’s transformation. Al-Kaabi highlighted that these employees played a key role in evolving QatarEnergy from a national oil company into a global LNG powerhouse, as well as one of the largest exporters of ammonia, urea, and helium in the world.
In addition to its LNG expansion, QatarEnergy is investing in sustainability by inaugurating two new solar power plants in Ras Laffan and Mesaieed. These projects align with Qatar’s environmental goals to promote cleaner air and water, showcasing QatarEnergy’s commitment to balancing energy growth with sustainability.
With these strategic developments, QatarEnergy is not only securing long-term energy supply but also positioning Qatar as a leader in the global transition towards cleaner and more efficient energy solutions.
