The Egyptian Ministry of Electricity is looking to finalize a partnership with Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) by the third quarter of this year to develop a 200 MW wind farm in Egypt.

Earlier in the year, the Norwegian firm Scatec, alongside a consortium headed by Orascom Construction, obtained land in Sohag Governorate for two significant wind energy projects with a total capacity of 8 gigawatts (GW). An official Cabinet announcement noted that these ventures represent a combined foreign direct investment of $9 billion.
These initiatives are pivotal advancements in the renewable energy sector, making them some of the largest onshore wind power projects in the Middle East and worldwide. Built under the Build-Own-Operate (BOO) framework, they showcase Egypt's dedication to enhancing its renewable energy resources.
