A consortium of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) and Japan’s Mitsubishi Power has been awarded a $595 million (5.9 billion Moroccan dirhams) Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for the 900-megawatt (MW) Al Wahda power project.

The combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant, to be built in the Lmjaara municipality in Ouezzane province, will be Morocco’s largest power facility and the country’s third CCGT project, following the 400 MW Tahaddart and 450 MW Ain Beni Mathar plants. This major project aims to enhance Morocco's energy generation capacity and support its growing energy demands.
